The History of Lucasville 1827-1970: Based on the August 2, 1827, Deeds of James Edward Lucas and Moses Oliver - Paperback
by Raquel Silva (Author), Emily Hillman (Author), Lucasville Greenway Society (Lgs) (Developed by)
Based on the August 2, 1827 deeds of James Edward Lucas and Moses Oliver an account of the community of Lucasville, originally Lucas Settlement, has been researched from 1827-1970. Lucasville, is an historical black community that is in between the 2 nearby historical black communities of Upper Hammonds Plains and Maroon Hill. Other than some oral stories, church, cemetery, marriage and news paper articles significant historical accounts of Lucasville were only found in the Nova Scotia Archives or local museums. Part of the purpose of this book is to get an accurate account of Lucasville's origin and history over the almost 200 years. Through the funding contributions of the Lucasville Greenway Society (LGS) a non- profit organization we were able to hire 2 researchers to compile historical data enough to form this book for publication and reading.
