Elizabeth Garza Cary grew up in rural South Texas and still calls it home. "Liz" has been writing all of her life. She attended Texas A&M University, Kingsville, where she earned a BA in Vocal Performance, and the University of Texas at Austin, where she earned a BA in Journalism. Liz sang with the Austin Lyric Opera for five seasons, and after getting married and having their only daughter, they moved back to South Texas to help care for her aging parents. The Cicada Chronicles has been in the works since 1996, but it wasn't until after her 2024 retirement that she began preparing it for publication. Other projects in the works are an anthology of short essays and a screenplay of her parents' wonderful love story called, "Run Mailman Run." HOPE KELLEY BOOK PUBLISHING
