During 37 years of diplomatic service, he was posted to different world capitals, such as Moscow, Washington DC, Singapore, Lusaka, Lilongwe, Aden, Stockholm and Kuala Lumpur. He served as Minister (Commerce) and Director General, Supplies at Washington DC (1984-87) and Deputy Chief of Mission at Moscow (1991-92).
