A Year in a Day: My days in Vietnam 1968 - 1969 - Hardcover
by Ken Welch (Author)
This isn't in my diary, but my best kept secret from Vietnam is, me and my fianc?e Jeannie coordinated with each other with a three-inch reel to reel tape recorder. When I would send her a tape, I would put some opium-soaked joints in the tape container and when I got home I had a hundred joints to get me and my friend back home high.
When I got home and got off the plane at Greater Cincinnati airport I was picked up by my stepfather, mother and Jeannie. The first thing I noticed was that my mother had aged ten years. The worst part about coming home was, Coming Home.
The only thing I regret from the war, was I turned down the Bronze Star medal for the Army Commendation Medal. My agent Orange showed up on Jan 27, 2011, had triple bypass and four stents. I have ischemic heart disease.
